Obituary for Anthony "Tony" Harrison

Our hearts were filled with sadness when Anthony "Tony" Harrison, journeyed to his heavenly home Thursday, March 23, 2023. The sorrow we are feeling when he left this Earth cannot compare to the joy his late parents, Harvey and MaeBell Harrison felt when they were blessed with their fifth of nine children, December 5, 1953.

Tony was a God fearing man, at an early age he accepted Christ at Carter Chapel CME Church in Port Arthur, TX. Later when he and Birdie married, they became members of Bordon Chapel Baptist Church, Beaumont, TX. In 1999, he and his family became members of Antioch Missionary Baptist Church under the leadership of Reverend Dr. John R. Adolph. Tony served as a dedicated usher until he could not due to his illness.

Tony received his primary education and part of his secondary education from the Port Arthur ISD. After his tenth grade year at Lincoln High School, Tony moved to East Palo Alto, California and graduated from Carlmont High School. The fall of 1972, he entered Prairie View A and M University and graduated May, 1977 with his Bachelor of Science degree in Industrial Technology. While attending college he met his devoted wife who cherished him Birdie Booker-Harrison to the end. They wed August 19, 1978 almost forty-five years. Afterwards Tony and Birdie moved to Beaumont, Texas, his first employment was with Neches Butane Gas Company, Port Neches, Texas before DuPont (Invista) Works in Orange, Texas for thirty-five years.

Blessed to this union daughter, Sondra (late Brian) Wilcox Katy, Texas, son, Stephen Harrison, Beaumont, Texas and his pride and joy a granddaughter, Rian Wilcox. His love of family was unwavering and that love always pushed him to always want and do the very best for them.

Tony is survived by brothers, Lester Harrison (Willie Mae), Anderson "Dale" Harrison (Pam) and Brian Harrison; sisters, Henrietta Jones, Brenda Cormier (David), and Angela Harrison. Deceased brothers, Charles Lee Harrison and Wendell Carl Harrison.
