Dorice's Journey
Ms. Dorice Frazier Jones, 76, peacefully went on to be with the Lord on Wednesday, January 1, 2025, at Christus St. Elizabeth Hospital in Beaumont, Texas.
Dorice was born on November 15, 1948, to Doll Lee Frazier and James Frazier.
She was a devout member of the Maxson Memorial Church of God in Christ for many years. She sought God's heart, frequently attending services and encouraging everyone around her to do the same.
In her early years, Dorice made history as one of the first African American women selected in the 1960s to work for NASA as a mathematician and human-computer. She later transitioned into the medical field as a medical assistant and eventually became a teacher's assistant. Her final position was at Goodwill, where she dedicatedly served others.
A woman of great passion and compassion, Dorice was known for her straightforward nature, her lively Friday night gatherings at Dee Dee's Club, and her exceptional cooking skills. She was especially famous for her signature three-way chili and her beloved "famous" sweet potato pies. Her kindness, generosity, and sharp humor endeared her to everyone who knew her.
Dorice was a cherished mother, daughter, grandmother, great-grandmother, aunt, and sister. She is survived by her two sons, Homer "Pete Jr." Denson Jr. and Daryl "Thunder" Frazier, as well as her daughter-in-law, Demitrius Denson, Homer's wife. Her grandchildren include Jeffery Montgomery, Ryecobie Brooks-Gordon, Jeanelle Denson, Shaniqua Phillips, Stefan Cook, Cynthia Michael, Deandre Denson, Dior Frazier, Daria Frazier, Zayden Frazier, and Landen Frazier. She is also survived by many great-grandchildren, nieces Verdina Calhoun, Zenobia Robinson, Roszena Robinson, Lashelle Laneaux, Sandra Henry, Shaunte Turner, SaJounar Landry, and nephews Marbry Frazier Jr., and Gerald Taylor Sr. She is also survived by her beloved sister, Jacqulyn Skeeter. In addition, Dorice was blessed with a long-term best friend, Loman "Cookie" Cooper, who shared many memorable moments with her throughout the years.
Dorice will be deeply missed by all who had the privilege of knowing her.
