Life and Legacy

Of

Pastor Elton Small

October 24, 1945- October 13, 2021

Pastor Elton Lee Small was born on October 24, 1945, to Lee A. and Eva Mae Small in Beaumont, Texas. On Wednesday, October 13, 2021, he went from Labor to Reward at Baptist Hospital.

Pastor Small accepted Jesus Christ as His Lord and Savior at an early age after being baptized at Mt. Calvary Baptist Church at the age of twelve. His grandmother called him "Put" and that nickname followed him throughout his life by family and friends. He graduated from Charlton-Pollard High School in 1964 and then attended Lamar University for Machinery which resulted in his getting hired on at Goodyear Chemical Plant along with his father. He joined the U. S. Army January 1965. He met the first "love of his life" Waldine Laday in 1968 and married her on September 20, 1969, at Ebenezer Baptist Church. From this union was born their only child Natyra Renee' on January 17, 1972, which was the second "love of his life." He retired in 2004 after working 35 years at Goodyear Chemical Plant as a Senior Operator.

He answered the Call to Ministry at Good Hope Baptist in 1984 and preached the gospel until he went home to glory last week. He first Pastored Sunrise Baptist Church in Kirbyville, Texas for nine years and then joined the Ministry Team at Triumph Church for seventeen years. In 2016 God gave him a vision to begin House Churches International (HCI) where he is the Senior Pastor. Throughout his ministry, he loved and obeyed God, impacted many lives spiritually, had many spiritual children and grandchildren, and was loved by many. He was an incredible husband, father, grandfather, spiritual father, brother, uncle, cousin, and friend.

Elton's Love and cherished memories will remain in the hearts of his devoted and dedicated wife, Waldine Small, daughter, Natyra (Charles) Johnson, Best Friend and Grandson, Jaeden Templeton, sisters,  Brenda Small Hartsfield, Gwen Small King, Yvonne Small Randle, and Faye Small Johnson, Brothers: Lee A.
