A Life Well Lived

George Frank Kemp, Jr. was born on August 11, 1947, in Beaumont, Texas, to Theresa James Kemp and George Frank Kemp, Sr. To this union, four children were born, and George was the eldest. He departed this life on Saturday, April 25, 2026, leaving behind a legacy of faith, service, hard work, and love.
At six weeks old, he was christened at Blessed Sacrament Catholic Church in Beaumont, Texas. Throughout his life, George remained a man of strong faith. He became a member of West Beulah Baptist Church and later joined Cathedral of Faith Baptist Church, where he faithfully
served in the men's choir and on the usher board. He found great joy in welcoming and greeting members as they entered the church.
George was raised on Long Street in the North End of Beaumont. He attended schools in the Beaumont Independent School District and graduated from Charlton-Pollard High School as a member of the Class of 1965. Following graduation, he proudly served his country in the United
States Army from 1967 to 1969.
Following his military service, George began his career at the Mobil Oil Refinery in Beaumont, Texas, where he worked as a rigger starting in 1970.
He dedicated 37 years of service before retiring. Never one to sit still, he later returned to work as a contractor for an additional ten years.
In 1970, George married the love of his life, Patsy McDonald. From this union, they were blessed with one daughter, Gabrielle F. Kemp. George poured his heart into being a caring husband and father. He was a strong provider and a firm believer in the value of education, instilling those
principles in his family.
George was preceded in death by his father, George F. Kemp, Sr., and his mother, Theresa James Kemp.

He is survived by his loving wife of fifty-five years, Patsy McDonald Kemp, his devoted daughter, Gabrielle Kemp Hudspeth, and his granddaughters, Lenore and Victoria Hudspeth, who were his whole world, along with his godson, Shelley Booker, and his bonus granddaughter, Adrianne Shaunteyl Hudspeth. He is also survived by his sisters, Jacqueline Kemp, Mary Smith, and Pamela Williams, along with a host of nieces, nephews, extended family, and dear friends.
George's life was marked by dedication, resilience, laughter, and love. His legacy will live on in the hearts of all who knew and loved him, especially in the lives of his granddaughters, who will carry forward his strength, his values, and his love.
