Mrs. Gertrude Stuckey Life Story
After blessing us with the life of Gertrude Stuckey the Lord has called her back to his side on March 29, 2025. Gertrude Stuckey was born on August 17, 1922 to Mr. Rosentille and Mrs. Christine Mouton in Parks, Louisiana.
At the age of three, Gertrude's family moved to Beaumont, Texas. After attending the Pipkin school, Gertrude graduated from Charlton-Pollard High School in 1940. Gertrude worked for
Sheppard's Laundry for thirty-two years, retiring as the head of the linen department. She raised a son who she loved dearly. Gertrude married Bennie Stuckey and was with him for twenty-one years until the Lord called him home on February 15, 1979.
Strong in her faith, as a youth she and her younger sister, Lou Melba, would join with their neigbors, the Pollards, bundling into Professor T. T. Pollard's car every Sunday to attend services at Antioch Baptist Church. From then until her health no longer permitted, she never missed attending Sunday mass at either Blessed Sacrament, Our Mother of Mercy, St. Ann's, or St. Pius X Catholic churches.
She is preceded in death by her parents, Rosentille and Christine Mouton; her loving husband, Bennie Stuckey; her grandson, Derrick Charlton; her sister, Lou Melba Davis; her nephew, Elder Charlie E. Porter, Jr.; her nephew, Thomas Mouton, Sr.; her niece, Bobbie Knighton; and her niece, Melba Colbert.
As she ascends to heaven, she awaits her son, Harold C. Charlton, Sr.; her grandson, Harold C. Charlton, Jr.; her nephew, Leo Mouton, Sr.; her niece, Rayetta Hayes, and a her many grand and great-grand-nephews and nieces.
She also leaves behind special people who she through love, adopted as her family. The Forkner, Germer, and Crenshaw families whom she thought of as kin and treated as blood were always in her prayers.
