Tray's Life Journey

Henry "Tray" Whittington III was born in Houston, Texas, in 1970, and lovingly welcomed by his parents, Henry Whittington Jr. and Louwilda Whittington.

Affectionately known as "Tray," he was a lifelong resident of Beaumont, Texas, and a proud 1990 graduate of Central High School. During his high school years, Tray was an active member of the NJROTC program for all four years. After graduation, he attended Job Corps in McKinney, Texas, where he earned his certification in Culinary Arts. Returning home to Beaumont, Tray worked in several restaurants, honing his skills as a talented cook. He later served as a maintenance technician at Baptist Hospital and, before his health declined, was employed at the Coca-Cola Plant in Beaumont.

Tray was baptized at a young age at Borden Chapel Baptist Church under the leadership of Rev. Perry Busby, and has remained steadfast in his faith throughout his life. He was a devoted member of The Church of I Am, punder the leadership of Rev. Michael Cooper, and often attended services with friends at Oasis Nursing Facility. When Tray wasn't in the kitchen, he could be found dancing with his hip-hop friends, always eager to perfect the latest pop-locking moves. He loved spending time with his friends and never met a stranger. Sundays were his favorite days—he looked forward to dinner at his mother's home, especially her delicious desserts. His sweet tooth was legendary.

Recently, Tray was honored to serve as Resident Board Vice President at Harmony Care, where he took great pride in helping his community. He dearly loved the residents there and was cherished by everyone who knew him. Tray truly embodied peace, love, laughter, and faith. Even during his most challenging times, he never complained—instead, he uplifted others with his unwavering joy and trust in God.

On Sunday, October 7, 2025, at the age of 54, Tray quietly listened as the Lord called him home, and he faithfully answered. He was preceded in death by his grandparents, Elijah  and Emma Lou Cassimere, and Amanda and Henry Whittington, Sr.

Tray was deeply loved and will be profoundly missed. He leaves to cherish his memory his parents, Henry Whittington Jr. and Louwilda Whittington; one Uncle, Mitchell (Lilah) Cassimere; five Aunts, Olivia Whittington of Bmt. Florence Cassimere of New York, Irma Tucker, Wilma Cassimere and Juanita Cassimere all of Washington, DC.; a sister, Paula Malone; one niece, Kaylan Blanchard (Antawn); one nephew, Giovanni Malone (Laura); one great-niece, Aniah Blanchard; one great-nephew, Liam Malone; Godbrothers, Michael Cooper, Milton Cooper, and Marvin Cooper; one Godsister, Valerie Cassimere and a host of uncles, aunts, cousins, extended family, and beloved friends from Harmony Care.
