Ida Mary Vallair Scott, 88, of Beaumont, transitioned from earth to eternity early Sunday morning on June 25, 2023, at her home in the presence of her children.

The Celebration Service will be at 12:00 noon on Saturday, July 1, 2023, at Antioch Missionary Baptist Church located at 3920 West Cardinal Drive, Beaumont, TX 77705. Burial service will follow at Greenlawn II Cemetery in Beaumont, Texas.  A public viewing will be held on Friday, June 30, 2023, from 12:00 Noon until 5:00 p.m. at the Mercy Funeral Home Chapel and visitation on Saturday, July 1st , from 11:00 a.m. until 12 noon at the church.

Ida was the ninth child (middle) of seventeen born to the union of John Vallair, Sr. and Alberta Ishmel Vallair on April 20, 1935, in Beaumont, Texas. She met and married the love of her life, Andrew J. "A.J." Scott, Jr. on April 15, 1954, and together they welcomed eleven children into their home.

She was preceded in death by her parents, husband of 56 years, A.J. Scott, Jr., children Joanie Marie, John Alex and Andrew Jay Scott, III, and twelve of her siblings.

Ida's life, love and laughter will be forever cherished in the lives of her children: Linda Parker (Ferguson Sr.), Cathey Billups (Joseph), Mary Young (Patrick Sr.), Laura Grimes (Rev. Kenneth Sr.), Jackie Scott, Michael Scott (Rochanda) of Houston, Mattie Lumpford (Rev. Robert Jr.), Rae Lynn Hawthorne (Rev. Manuel) of Porter, TX and Linda Jones Scott of China, TX; 42 grandchildren, 54 great-grandchildren and 7 great-great grandchildren; her siblings: Andrew Vallair (Quintine) of Carrollton, GA, Annie Bell Guidry, Hazel Beloney, Virginia Hardin and honorary brother, Bishop Ollis Whitaker, Sr. (Imogene); her sisters-in-law: Shirley Scott and Bobbie George (Vernis Jr.); many, many nephews, nieces, cousins, and a host of friends.
