Larry's Journey

Larry Darnell Hope (Poke-Bone), age 69, was born to Julia and Joseph B. Hope, Sr., on April 26, 1955. He transitioned from his earthly labor to be with his Lord and Savior, on Thursday, September 26, 2024, at Beaumont Nursing and Rehabilitation Center in Beaumont, Texas.

He united with McKinley Ave Baptist Church, where he accepted Christ at an early age. At a young age Larry developed a passion for carpentry under the direction of Franklin Duplechian, Sr. Larry graduated from Charlton- Pollard High School in 1974 and went on to work for Duplechain and Son Construction. Larry took pride in being a part of the construction team of several beautiful churches that were built in Beaumont and Port Arthur; Starlight Baptist Church, Borden Chapel Baptist Church, Fellowship Baptist Church, New Hope Baptist Church and many others beautiful structures in the Golden Triangle. After many years of construction work, Larry changed professions and started a career with Southern Pacific Railroad as a Machine Technician and retired with many of years' service.

Larry was kind hearted, willing to give a helping hand to anyone, especially when it came to using his carpentry skills.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Julia and Joseph B. Hope, Sr.; sisters, Johnnie Mae Hope, Rosie Zeno and Louella Zeno; brothers, Joseph B. Hope, Jr. and Kenneth Hope.

Larry leaves precious memories in the hearts of his love ones, Thelma Nobles, Charlotte Visor, Pearlie Nobles (Peter) all of Beaumont, Texas and Mary L. Young (Ronald) of DeQuincy, Louisiana; and numerous nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
