On October 16, 1949, Linda Sue Allen entered this life as the first-born daughter to Will Jones and Lola Mae Thomas Jones in Beaumont, Texas. A curious learner, after graduating from Hebert High School, she left home to study at Texas College in Tyler, Texas.
As a quiet and gentle spirit, Linda fostered loving relationships by accepting Christ at an early age and always being a good steward of grace and compassion for others. The primary benefactors of her loving generosity were her children - Cynthia, Michael, Ron, and Byron.
A life filled with an unwavering dedication to her family, Linda would show up whenever someone needed her. When her parents and grandparent got sick, she tended to their medical needs. Linda's love for the elderly made her a popular and effective caregiver in various public and private nursing homes and hospitals around Beaumont. After retiring from healthcare, Linda worked in security and enjoyed interacting with co-workers while remaining focused on procedures. Everyone who knew her fondly remembers her quiet smile and classy style.
Linda also enjoyed routines. A devoted member of Cathedral of Faith Baptist Church, she served faithfully on the Usher Board and Women's Ministry. She also created a band of volunteers to assist her with special occasions in each of her auxiliaries. One of her annual commitments was to serve food at the Evolution Academy's Thanksgiving luncheon. She insisted that all of her servers be in uniform with a polished look and the heart of a willing worker.
Even though she built her life around a strong work ethic, Linda still made time for simple pleasures. She loved to cook, and her specialty was Southern cuisine. She also deeply appreciated nature and spent hours tending to her plants.
The day before she transitioned to be with the Lord, Linda spent time outside soaking up the warmth of the sun. To the very end, she modeled the value of grace, the importance of cherishing loved ones, and the need to live each day to its fullest. On June 6, 2023, Linda crossed the gates of eternity to lie in the corridors of eternal rest. Her life has been her tribute. Welcoming her home are those preceding her in death: her husband, Rev. Lawrence Allen; father, Will Jones; mother, Lola Mae Williams; grandmother, Lela Mae Turner; brother, Tyrone Thomas; and sister, Alice Lennette. She will forever be missed.
Linda leaves to cherish her memory a daughter, Cynthia A. Trigg (Vernell) of Parker, Texas, and three sons: Michael Artmore (Rebecca) of Gilroy, California, Ron Artmore of Houston, Texas, Byron Artmore of Beaumont, Texas; g randchildren, Cierra Trigg, Nahrya Trigg, Michael Artmore Jr., Michaela Artmore, Jared Artmore, Justin Smith, Kaylee Artmore and Kayln Artmore; g reat grandchildren: Nicholas Artmore, Kabreial Artmore and Kayla Artmore, siblings, Reverend Tyrrell Antwine, Jr. (Bernadette) and Theresa R.
