Sylvester's Life Journey
Sylvester "Tweet" Bell, Jr. was born on December 14,1961 in Benoit,
Mississippi to the late Sylvester Bell, Sr. and Doris Humes.
Sylvester, but better known as "Tweet", graduated from Hebert High
School and received a college degree from Alvin College. He was
employed with Modern Dragon for many years as a welder and painter.
He was loved by many, for the wisdom he imparted to everyone that he
came in contact with. If you needed wisdom - he gave it. If you were in
need of a listening ear – he sat with you, listened and in each instance –
he always gave a God–inspired encouraging word. Tweet had a genuine
love for all of God's people and when he was sharing the Word of God,
you were literally sitting on the edge of your seat waiting to hear what
the Lord, had given him to share.
One of his famous sayings was; WE must stay ready -so that WE don't
have to get ready and he was definitely ready early Saturday morning,
December 28, 2024, when he was called home to glory.
Sylvester is preceded in death by his father, Sylvester Bell, Sr., his
brother Lee Humes, and his paternal and maternal grandparents.
He leaves to cherish his memories and legacy of love, his loving and
devoted wife, Shirley Bell; his one and only daughter, Tabitha Raquel
Hawkins, who was his heart; two of his favorite girls his granddaughters,
Genesis Connor and Aakoya Dodd and Papa's favorite little guys his two
great-grandsons – Jalani Nixon and JaeMire Nixon. Also cherishing his
memory and love is his beloved mother Doris Humes, his four sisters;
Jacqueline Bell, Linda Bell, Dequaina Humes and Selena Holmes and his
three brothers; Jimmie Bell, Anthony Bell Steele and Lane Bell Steele,
along with a host of nieces, nephews, aunts, uncles, cousins, in-laws,
and friends.
