Thomas Jefferson Howard

"TJ"

September 3, 1937 – January 20, 2025

Thomas Jefferson Howard, affectionately known as "Big TJ," passed away peacefully at the age of 87. A lifelong resident of Beaumont, Texas, where he attended Charlton Pollard High School. He was known for his quiet strength, unwavering kindness, and deep sense of duty to family and faith.

Raised by his beloved godmother, Willie Mae Hill, TJ learned the values of hard work, resilience, and generosity. He dedicated over 30 years of service to Motion Industries, earning multiple awards for his outstanding work ethic and dedication.

A man of routine and discipline, TJ was an early riser, often walking three to five miles before dawn well into his later years. He was truly grateful for God's gift of life and vitality, never taking it for granted. He lived by the principle that a strong body and disciplined spirit kept a man sharp in mind and steadfast in faith.

He was a devoted member of the Church of the Living God, where he sang with the male chorus and served as an usher. His church family and neighbors were an extension of his own, and their kindness and companionship meant the world to him.

TJ was preceded in death by his parents, Martha Sullivan Brazier and Mister Howard, his godmother Willie Mae Hill, his brother Randolph Stanfield of Alexandria, Louisiana, his sister Maxine Edwards of Union City, California, and his beloved only son, Terry Dean Rogers.

He is survived by his sister Betty B. Randolph of Richmond, Virginia, and his brother Lewis G. Brazier and his wife Bertha of Alexandria, Louisiana. He also leaves behind a host of nieces and nephews across Louisiana, Texas, and Virginia.

TJ's greatest joy came from his family, and his legacy lives on through his grandchildren: Thomas Jefferson Little, Terry Dean Little, Edwin Johnathan Rogers and his wife Terricita, and Shantel Loville and her husband John. He was also blessed with seven great-grandchildren who will carry forward his memory.

A special thank you is extended to his Church Family and neighbors for their unwavering support, love, and care.
