Life Journey                                                                     "TJ Smooth"

The engine is silent and the kickstand is down; He has traded the highway for a heavenly crown. With the wind at his back and his spirit set free. He is riding the roads of eternity. Though the journey on earth has reached its last mile, we carry the light of his legendary
smile. His race is now finished, his victory is won, the ultimate ride has only begun.

On August 28, 1965, Troy was born to his loving parents Fredrick Joubert and Bernice Joubert in Beaumont, Texas. He attended New Temple Christ Holy Sanctified Church throughout his childhood and into adulthood under the leadership of Bishop Brown. In 2001, he later joined New Pilgrim Missionary Baptist Church under the leadership of Reverend Joseph A. Davis Sr. There he served on the pastor care and brotherhood board, and occasionally he would sing with the male chorus. Troy attended French High School from 1979-1983 and graduated from West Brook High School in 1983.

In 2001, Troy met the love of his life, Jacqueline Wells Joubert, and they were married the following year, in 2002. Through this union, he lovingly embraced her three sons as his own. He
was employed by the Port of Beaumont for over 40-plus years, where he was respected and admired by coworkers for his dedication and work ethic. He found joy in riding his motorcycle, fishing, playing dominoes, shooting pool, playing spades, riding his boat, swinging out, and  watching football. One of his unique passions was purchasing barbecue pits, something that always brought him a sense of excitement and joy. He especially enjoyed traveling with his loving wife and family, particularly going on cruises.
He and his wife started cruising in 2002 and went on a cruise every year since. Even after his cancer diagnosis, Troy remained determined to live life to the fullest, cherishing a final, joyful cruise surrounded by his family and loved ones in July 2025, a memory they will hold dear forever.
Above all, Troy cherished his family. He leaves to honor his memory his wife, Jacqueline Wells Joubert, his sons, Gavin Harmon (Alexis), Shaquille LaDay (Jonta), and Keithian LaDay (Kaylan); his 15 grandchildren with one on the way, whom he spoke of often.
He also leaves to honor his memory his sister, Darlene Parker; his brother, Raymond Joubert; a very special sister-in-law, Patricia Wells-Adams (Darryl); a very special sister-in-love, Carolyn Joubert; a special, Aunt Cathy Wells-Walker, his bonus daughter, Dannette Kirkmon (Herman); his beloved godson, Jason Lockett Sr; his very special niece/daughter, Ashlyn Lockett, and a host of nieces, nephews, and extended family and friends including Ronda Rodgers Booker, Antonirria Beasley and Noell Jenkins whom all cherished him dearly.

He was preceded in death by his father, Frederick Joubert; his mother, Bernice Joubert; his stepmother, Dorthy Joubert; his sister, Dora Lockett; and his brothers, Edward James and Donald Ray Joubert, and a very special comical niece, Shree Joubert Mayfield.
Troy will be remembered for his love, his strength, his contagious smile, and the joy he brought into every room. His legacy lives on through the family he adored and the memories they will carry forever. He will be deeply missed and forever loved
