Obituary for Virgil Neal Scott, Jr.

V irgil Neal Scott, Jr. was born on July 26, 1972, in Silsbee, Texas to Neal and Cherryln Young Scott.  Surrounded by loved ones, he lost his battle with cancer on Saturday, July 25, 2020.

N eal is survived by his parents, his siblings; brothers Jonathan M. Scott and Aaron T. Scott, and sister Mary "Mimi" Carmichael. He is also mourned by four children; Shalisha Lynn Scott, Ashley Charneal Scott, Xavier Keyshawn Scott (Aleigh) and Micheal O'Neal Reed. Neal's three grandchildren are; Laila "LayLay" Sells, Aerionna "Airy" Hooper, and Zaylon Deion Scott.

N eal will also be missed by his close cousins; Stacie Young Moore (Adam), Lionel Young, Jr., Milton Scott, Jr. and close friends; Michael and Trina Jacquette, and Kiana Anderson. Also, a host of uncles, aunts, nephews, nieces, cousins, and friends.

N eal was a compassionate man who loved his family and friends deeply. Though devoted to both parents, he wasn't ashamed of being called a "momma's boy" by his Dad (affectionately of course). By his presence, Neal supported his children's activities when they were of school age. Although he cheered the Kountze Lions sports teams they were on, the kids knew their teams were second fiddle to his beloved Jaguars high school teams.

N eal was baptized as one of Jehovah's Witness on July 04, 1987. He was a zealous servant when a young man. And although he had been inactive for a number of years, the medical staff that treated him for his illness knew him to be absolutely resolute in following his conscious, and in obeying the direction provided at Acts 15:28, 29. For this we are proud.

N eal was a 1990 graduate of Beaumont Central Senior High school and attended Lamar University and San Jacinto College. He was employed by the Houston Food Bank, where he achieved the position of Logistics manager. He was known as a loyal and hardworking employee that cheerfully gave his time and made the effort to help others. N eal enjoyed going to sports events and hanging out with friends and family, barbecuing and playing dominoes. He will be sorely missed by us all, but not for long as we eagerly await the time soon when we see him again! Psalms 37:11,29.
